Philadelphia, PA, October 22, 2007 – Lorie Slass has been named Vice President of Communications at the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), effective November 7. In this newly created position, she will work closely with senior management and the Board of Directors to strategically construct the framework for all marketing and communications initiatives geared to ABIM’s wide spectrum of stakeholders.

Ms. Slass has more than 15 years of experience in communications and public policy. Most recently, she was a senior officer at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where she implemented strategies and developed relationships to inform policy makers and the public on critical issues and further the impact of Pew’s work. Previously, she was Deputy Campaign Manager for Cover the Uninsured Week at The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where she helped plan and implement a complex public education campaign – the nation’s largest mobilization effort – on behalf of the millions of Americans who lack health care coverage. As director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center’s Washington, D.C. office, Ms. Slass directed media outreach and public affairs activities around various public policy issues.
Ms. Slass earned a master’s degree in Communication from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University. She resides in Elkins Park, PA.
