Board Certification Matters
There are more than 1 billion visits to physician offices every year in the United States.*
Approximately one in every four practicing physicians—more than 260,000 doctors—is ABIM Board Certified. ABIM Board Certified physicians are primary care physicians, hospitalists and specialists practicing across 20 different fields of medicine.
Whether they are a generalist or specialist, internal medicine physicians are trained to diagnose, treat and help prevent a number of conditions. They are experts in complexity and take on comprehensive, lifelong approaches to patient care.
Internal medicine physicians who are ABIM Board Certified set themselves apart in their commitment to continuing education and regular demonstration of their expertise. They do this by participating in conferences, learning modules and teaching programs, and by regular assessment of their knowledge through testing.
