Maintenance of Certification

Does one-time board certification provide doctors and patients with enough confidence for a lifetime of complicated care decisions? While at one time this was the norm, the pace of medical advances is changing medical knowledge more rapidly than ever before, increasing the importance of keeping up-to-date.

Though this is a newer area of research and study, evidence suggests that doctors who maintain board certification experience improved quality of care.

See how ABIM uses evidence to improve the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
