Sign in to your Physician Portal to view any remaining requirements for the year. Not completing these requirements by 12/31/24 could result in a change to “Not Certified” for one or more certificates.

Earning Points

To be reported as Certified, Participating in MOC you must earn 100 points every five years and meet the MOC assessment requirement through the traditional, 10-year MOC exam, the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®), or a Collaborative Maintenance Pathway (CMP) assessment. ABIM no longer requires that points must be earned every two years to be reported as Participating in MOC.

QI/PI Activities

Earn points for activities that aim to improve the quality of care in your practice.

Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®)

Earn up to 24 MOC points per year per certificate through the LKA.

Did You Know?

  • If you're a FELLOW...
    You will earn 20 MOC points after each year of eligible fellowship training.
  • When you take an MOC ASSESSMENT...
    You earn MOC points in Medical Knowledge. For each attempt of the traditional, 10-year MOC exam you will earn 20 MOC points. With the LKA you can earn up to 24 MOC points per year per certification.
  • If you're CERTIFIED BY ANOTHER ABMS MEMBER BOARD...
    Your ABIM MOC point requirement can be waived if you are currently certified by and meeting the MOC requirements of that board. Reciprocal credit
  • If you have MULTIPLE CERTIFICATIONS...
    The MOC points you earn count toward all your certifications.
  • If you earn a new subspecialty certificate...
    Your current 100 point requirement will be met as a result of passing your subspecialty exam.
